Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Abbotsford Tulip Festival?
The Abbotsford Tulip Festival is an offering inviting the public to visit and enjoy the gorgeous spectacle of a working flower farm – Lakeland Flowers. The tulip fields span 28 acres and showcase 100 varieties of tulips, including double, fringed, and parrot varieties! Our legacy tulip is named after Peter Warmerdam, Lakeland’s first generation farmer.
The Abbotsford Tulip Festival is just the beginning of a six- month flower offering, the Abbotsford Summer Flower Festival, that begins with tulips and canola in April and May, and ends with sunflowers and other cut flowers in August. Learn more about our flower offerings here.
What is the Abbotsford Summer Flower Festival?
The Abbotsford Summer Flower Festival starts with the tulips and ends with the sunflowers. It is the largest summer floral experience in Canada. Guests are invited to wander through 43 acres of tulips and canola, 32 acres of peonies, lupins, Siberian wallflower, and lavender, and 20 acres of sunflowers, flowering crops, such as buckwheat, mustard and phacelia along with dozens of varieties of flowering cut beds including hydrangea, dahlias, marigolds, and snapdragons.
April & May: tulips and canola
May & June: peonies, lupins, Siberian wallflower, and lavender
July & August: hydrangea, flowering crops, flowering cut beds, and sunflowers
Learn more about our flower offerings here. See a map of our farm offerings here.
What is the bloom status right now?
From April to September there is always something blooming at Lakeland Flowers. Our Field Report is the best place to see current field images and weather conditions at the farm. See a calendar of our Flower Offerings here.
Is there parking and is there a cost?
We offer free parking on-site! The parking area is located near 3663 Marion Rd, as seen on Google Maps. Turn south onto Marion Rd from No. 4 Rd, then look for signs marking the entrance to the designated parking area.

During the Abbotsford Summer Flower Festival you may pick your own sunflowers. Admission includes 5 stems from our sunflower u-pick field!
What cut flowers can I buy at the farm?
There will be a variety of cut flowers available for purchase at the farm, depending on what is in season at the time you visit. To get an idea of what cut flowers might be available, see our field report showing latest blooming updates on the farm.
We also offer garlands of fresh cut marigolds when they’re in season (usually from late June onwards).
What tulip varieties do you have?
The Abbotsford Tulip Festival is a dazzling display of colour care of the huge variety of tulips we grow. See a full list of this season’s tulip varieties here.
What field flowers are available during the Abbotsford Tulip Festival?
Assorted canola, marigolds and a few surprises.
Are the fields mobility aid and stroller accessible?
We love for our guests with mobility aids and strollers to have the best experience at Lakeland Flowers. However, we recommend that our guests be able to comfortably walk 1km without assistance to get the best experience.
Wheelchairs that are not suitable for uneven ground are not recommended.
We have some wheelchairs available. They are free to use and are on a first come, first serve basis.
Our field walkways are on grass or dirt which can sometimes be uneven or muddy. We recommend that if you use a mobility aid or stroller, that you visit us on a day when we’ve had a few days without rain. Please check our Field Report and/or social media for an update on our accessibility status.
Please note that the Summer Flower Festival spans 45 acres! Bring suitable shoes for walking!
Can I buy tickets at the gate?
Yes! Tickets can be purchased with Cash or Credit Card at the gate. See all ticket pricing here.
What if it's raining?

Will all the flowers be in bloom?
Not all flowers will be in bloom at once.
For the Abbotsford Tulip Festival, we have planted a mix of early, mid, and late season blooming varieties and there will be overlap between the blooming of these varieties. No matter what time of the tulip season you visit, there will be a spectacular variety of colours and shapes on display. Learn more here.
For the Abbotsford Summer Flower Festival, peonies, lavendar, meadow flowers and sunflowers all bloom at different times. We plant our sunflowers in blocks sequentially over the the spring and early summer. This way, you will always have sunflowers in bloom when you come to Lakeland during the Abbotsford Summer Flower Festival.
See our Flower Offerings for a better idea of the different flower seasons.
Stay tuned to our social media or check our Field Report for updates on field status before purchasing tickets, and to get an idea of what our fields currently look like.
